Movement Leaders: Next Gen Catalysts (Spoken Word)

Someone once asked me this question,
“What is a leader of the next generation?”

Are they forged through the fires of social experimentation?
Or are they found in the institutions of formal education?

Neither…

Movement leaders are formed by the Spirit of God

First and foremost, God is the host
Salvation’s by grace through faith so that no one can boast

The Creator creates, calls, and commissions
His glory His story, God’s heart is the vision

Leaders begin their journey on knees
Humbled and grateful “God use me as You please”

Faith as large as a mustard seed
They rise from the harvest as the least of these

They’re unexpected, sometimes disrespected but extremely infectious

Often labeled as outcasts, rejects, and social misfits
Unschooled ordinary men and women but get this,

People recognize they’ve been with, Jesus

Leaders lead themselves first before leading others
Through discipline and accountability with sisters and brothers

They’re driven by the vision, not distracted by the rabbits but see the gaps and commit to character forming habits

They’re unsatisfied with the status-quo, and choose to throw
away wordly obligations having nothing less than supernatural expectations

They reflect the indigenous culture of the seed in which it was planted
Yet can cross cultures to make disciples as Jesus commanded

Leaders of today might not look like leaders of tomorrow
You may be white but they may be black or brown though

Colors and cultures must be viewed through a kaleidoscope
Each reflection unique but unified through Christ’s hope

Movement leaders bear fruit in season
Developing a rhythm of running and breathin

Sometimes leading from the front on the side or behind
But always with empowering others in mind

They see potential in others and give more than they receive
Creating a path for disciples to plant kingdom seeds

To do greater things than they could have ever conceived
Leaving a spiritual legacy generations deep

Echoing into eternity…

Leaders fight the good fight, reflecting Christ
to nations in need and in the end are
honored to place them before Jesus’ feet

Who will say, “Well done my child, I’m pleased. You’ve finished the race with blood on your knees.”
