Let’s be honest—“rapid” movements sound a lot sexier than they actually are. What the brochures don’t tell you is that rapid often takes years—years of walking, weeping, failing, and following Jesus through some serious wilderness. Movements don’t usually erupt overnight. They rise over time… often one obedient step at a time.
I first wrote this piece for my friends over at Sent Ones, where I’ve got deep relational roots and respect. They asked me to share some raw reflections on leadership development and the real cost of multiplication in the field. What came out was a bit of a heart dump—a look behind the curtain of the “success stories.”
In the article I wrote:
“We don’t need more professional Christians. We need ordinary disciples, shaped in obscurity, who know how to cling to Jesus in the dark and bring others with them into the light.”
Yeah. That’s where I’m at.
So if you’re leading, planting, dreaming, or just trying not to give up—this one’s for you. I’m reposting the full article here because it’s part of my journey, and I think it’ll speak to yours too.
