The Fear of Bombs and Demons

Bombs

Fear is the same the world over.  Its manifestations though are quite diverse.

Here in the West we fear the loss of control. Chaos is a threat to our security and stability.  Without control our way of life is in danger.  Our children are in danger, our investments are in danger, our houses are in danger, our environment is in danger, our guns are in danger…dammit even our 50” LED’s are in danger!

The Boston bombings sucked camel balls. It was awful because it was designed to strike terror and chaos.  So how do they appease this fear? They hunt terrorists and defuse bombs.  They believe in what they have built and will fight anything that infringes on their traditional way of life.

Here in the East we also fear the loss of control. Unappeased spirits are a threat to our security and stability.  Without control our way of life is in danger.  Our physical health is in danger, our fortunes are in danger,  our villages are in danger, our rice fields are in danger,  our weather is in danger…dammit even our pigs are in danger!

I live in an undisclosed location in South-east Asia. The bombs once rained down in the millions but that’s not what people fear, they fear demons and spirits.  This worldview, where the spirit world and the physical world are inter-connected and have a profound effect on one another, is called Animism.  So how do they appease this fear? They worship idols and offer sacrifices. They believe as they have for thousands of years and will fight anything that infringes on their traditional way of life.

Fear is rooted in deception, keeps you in bondage, and driven by the greatest slave driver in the heavenly realms – Satan.

Love is rooted in truth, keeps you in freedom, and driven by the greatest King in every realm – Jesus.

What do you fear?
